First Aid for dog wound can be given by yourself before going to Vet.

Keeping First Aid kit for your dog is very important that accidents may occur at any time. You should always be prepared. First Aid Kit must contain Gauze which is thin transparent dressing fabric and tape. You should always have muzzle, if the wound is large and while in the treatment your pet may bite you because of pain.

Have ointment like Vetericyn or any anti-bacterial cream that heals the wound and which will be safe if it licks also. It can be applied in any places where the wound is. First using a clean cloth apply direct pressure and stop the bleeding, once bleeding is stopped then clean the wounded area by water and apply the ointment in minor cases.

There is the possibility of getting infection, so change the bandage twice in a day and apply anti-bacterial cream that is meant for pets or better apply medicine and keep cotton over instead of bandage.

Consult your Vet immediately if the wound is severe or bleeding heavily, or if it is a bite wound, or puncture by the sharp objects.
